Early 80's
AIDS is, for many, a mysterious and frightening illness. As it strikes increasing numbers of residents in drug treatment programs, it becomes abundantly clear that the needs of people struggling with the disease and substance abuse require resources beyond the capability of existing drug treatment programs.

1988
Project Return (now Palladia) and Samaritan Village join forces to address the needs of the new and growing population of people with HIV and chemical dependency. Their joint venture will later become known as PSI.

1990
PSI opens a 66 bed Residential Health Care Facility (RHCF) with financial assistance from Housing Enterprise for the Less Privileged (HELP) and Burchman Terrio, an urban planning and development consulting firm.

1992
John Cavallaro joins PSI as the leader of the executive team.

1993
PSI hosts its first annual graduation & induction into the Honor Society.

1994
PSI establishes the COBRA Case Management program, licensed by the NY State Department of Health's AIDS Institute. With this new program, PSI expands its mission to include all people with HIV/AIDS and those at high risk of contracting HIV/AIDS.

1997
PSI opens an Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) facility in the Bronx.

1998
Ryan White funds a pilot ADHC facility in Queens.

2004
PSI opens an ADHC facility in Brooklyn.

2005
The ADHC pilot in Brooklyn becomes permanent.

2007
• PSI opens Primary Care (PC) facilities in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens. With this new program, PSI expands its mission again, this time to include all people in need of primary medical care and mental health services.
• PSI's Medical Care Providers became accredited HIV Specialists by the American Academy of HIV Medicine, ensuring that Accredited HIV Specialists are working with clients at each location.

2009
• New President and CEO, Paul Vitale, joins HELP/PSI.
• PC increases its census 36% to meet the needs of the homeless, the underserved, and those at risk.
•New Business Development Department begun to expand partnerships throughout the NYC area.

2010
New state of the art Dental clinic opened.
• Mandatory Managed Care for all HIV patients with Medicaid – per NYS requirement.
• HELP/PSI Services Corp. and HELP/PSI Inc. begin negotiations with seven managed care organizations to expand its cope and population
• HELP/PSI Services Corp. awarded FQHC status with enhanced rate coming from the State and Federal governments.

2011
• HELP/PSI Services Corp. opens a clinic at CitiWide Harm Reduction Center.
• Corporate office moves to Manhattan to provide strategic presence and to expand services.
