Vice President, Development

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Vice President, Development identifies and manages the direction of fund-raising programs and campaigns, analyzes the effectiveness of current development efforts and determines strategies for identification of new prospects. This position is motivated to create opportunities that drive revenue within and beyond our traditional strategies. The Vice President, Development will also focus on the development, implementation and execution of effective public relations strategies and publicity campaigns resulting in increased awareness of HELP/PSI programs and initiatives. This position reports to the President and CEO.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop the overall agency fundraising plan
- Identify potential contributors for special project funds and supporters of HELP/PSI's ongoing operations through examination of past records, individual and corporate contracts, and knowledge of the HIV/AIDS community
- Identify/quantify expectations from development and special events programs and analyze actual program costs and benefits vs. expectations
- Create and maintain agency direct mail program
- Develop annual budgets to support the implementation of development programs
- Prepare statements of planned activities and enlist support from members of the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers
- Oversee all current grants and identify new grant funding opportunities
- Coordinate annual fund giving
- Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
- Develop giving society
- Direct teams on development and grant writing projects, which may include coordinating the work of consultants and other outside vendors, as needed for foundation and grants funding
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of reporting to grant funders
- Oversee the administration and maintenance of the donor database and donor records
- Develop and roll-out cultivation events with each program
- Function as the media liaison at various company events
- Collaborate with colleagues at similar organizations to identify partnership opportunities for the increased effectiveness of HELP/PSI efforts
- Assist in the achievement of agency-wide strategic and operational goals
- Maintain a positive, proactive personality with a strong work ethic and motivation reach increasing goals
- Prepare status reports for the Board of Directors, President/CEO and COO as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
At least 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of skills including development, special events planning, developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising and development marketing goals, objectives and plans, preferably within the HIV/AIDS community. Proven ability to plan, organize and direct multiple programs and activities, targeting major prospects and direct solicitation programs. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience in staff supervision, budget preparation and in analyzing campaign results required. Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
