HELP/PSI 2011 Cabaret Fund Raiser

On November 7, 2011 at the Tribeca Grand Hotel, HELP/PSI will showcase rock and roll hall of famer, Grammy award nominated and Hip Hop Legend DMC, along with exciting Broadway entertainment in our 3rd Annual Cabaret Fund Raiser. Kevin Spirtas star of Broadway, film and television Days of Our Life, will host this event. The proceedings from this spectacular event will benefit men and women across New York City suffering from HIV/AIDS as well as individuals who have a history of substance abuse.

For more than 20 years HELP/PSI, has been a leading force in caring for those in New York City with HIV/AIDS and substance abuse issues. Our work involves caring for the most medically fragile people, many of whom are homeless. Over the years therapies, medicine and research have tremendously changed since the start of the HIV epidemic. People suffering from HIV/AIDS now have the potential to live longer and healthier lives if given the proper care. Our goal is to not only reduce further transmission, but also to enhance quality of life for those affected by the disease; and improve access to both healthcare and social services.

At this year’s fund raiser our mission is to raise enough money to expand our day centers. Our day centers provide a structured program including two hot meals, a food pantry, support groups that focus on medical and substance abuse issues along with prevention. Our case managers are extremely dedicated to each client and one on one support is provided to aid our clients in matters related to housing and other family life crisis including but not limited to job placement and educational programs.

This year we will continue our mission to care for people who are suffering from HIV/AIDS and substance abuse; we are also committed to raise more awareness within the New York City area regarding this issue and help to reduce this public health crisis that continues to plague our society.
