Finance/Accounting Intern

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Finance/Accounting Intern will assist in performing accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting, preparing state registrations, and will help prepare for the annual audit. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience in a non-profit Finance department. General supervision of the position performed by the Controller, Director of Patient Accounts and CFO.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in the preparation and processing of accounts payable transactions
- Verifies criteria for receipt of business development bonuses by accessing applicable software
- Maintains and records agency log, recording all voucher numbers, batch numbers, purchase order numbers, totals, and card counts for future cross references.
- Assigns voucher numbers for all payments being sent to the state; including weekly payroll and automatic update, and vouchers for fringe benefits.
- Maintains federal identification number log of vendors
- Work closely with the CFO and Controller on income processing and related receivable issues
- Assist the Controller and Director of Patient Accounts on the weekly preparation and printing of vendor invoices and checks
- Assist with data entry and maintaining electronic files
- Assist in the reconciliation of financial transactions
- Assist with cash flow and budget
- Performs other related projects as assigned by the Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:
Current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an Accounting or Finance discipline. Ability to perform computations with reasonable speed and accuracy. Ability to learn and comprehend computerized accounting/payroll software. Demonstrate effective communication skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and skilled in internet research. Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to prioritize workload. Must be able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
