Summary of Position
PSI's Administrative Internship Program is designed to provide an educational environment and an experience that will contribute to professional growth and development as a quality health care professional. You’ll gain exposure to clinical and operational departments, providing an opportunity to apply knowledge, skills and abilities learned in the classroom, in a practical work setting while gaining real management experience. You’ll be exposed to every aspect of health care & nursing home administration, including:
- General Management: Meet with senior administrators and managers to identify potential projects and become familiar with HELP/PSI, Inc. culture, structure and resources.

- Organizational Resources: Explore ways to increase productivity, improve work processes, interpret data, solve problems and improve employee satisfaction
- Clinical Services: Develop a comprehensive understanding of medical staff responsibilities and all clinical aspects of a skilled nursing facility.
- Finance: Discover ways to maintain fiscal responsibility through sound budgeting, purchasing, accounting and auditing functions.
- Human Resources: Gain exposure to recruitment, employee relations, training, compensation and benefits administration, employment policies and procedures and salary and wage administration.
- Strategic Planning and Marketing: Work on long and short-term projects that communicate HELP/PSI, Inc. mission with employees, community leaders and patients.
- Information Services: Understand current trends and methods of system development in healthcare and nursing home administration while increasing competencies related to the use of information technology.
Mentorship
You’ll be matched with a mentor who will serve as the primary supervisor and teacher throughout your entire internship/residency. The mentor will assign meaningful and relevant projects while guiding you through project completion. The mentor will:
- Help you clarify goals and objectives
- Create a supportive learning environment
- Identify educational projects and tasks
- Assign reading materials to further enhance the learning process
- Assure your learning goals are met
Qualifications
- Good academic standing
- Computer literate, including Word, Excel and Internet Explorer
- Organizational skills with attention to detail
- Self-starter with a strong desire to learn
- Strong written and verbal skills
Approval is dependent on skills exhibited, interview and testing for drugs, PPD and titers.
